Population ageing is a defining trend of our time that signals improvements in life expectancy, reduction in fertility, and other remarkable collective achievements. Every country in the world is experiencing growth in both the number and proportion of people aged 60 years and older in the population. By 2050, globally 2.1 billion people will be aged 60 years and older, with 480 million living in the South-East Asia Region.

Nurses are regarded as the backbone of the healthcare system, and often the first point of contact in managing the health problems of older people and the family members they live with. Trained nurses play a central role in improving access to integrated care by older people.

The app ‘Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) – Nurses’ Manual’ is designed to help nurses strengthen their skills to provide integrated care to older people. The app has 11 modules and is aligned with the WHO ICOPE approach to old age care, which proposes evidence-based recommendations for healthcare professionals to prevent, slow or reverse declines in the physical and mental capacities of older people.

To further enhance the personal learning experience, the application is supported by:

1. A pre-test before starting the learning journey

2. An assessment to check self-knowledge after completing each module

3. A Post-test after successful completion of all the Modules
